"Put that outside!" the abbot stepped back.
"But Father, it's just Spidey." Emeryl objected, cuddling it, "And this is Leiko."
"This is a big house." Leiko wandered through the pews.
"Don't carry that around, and take a bath!" the rector ordered him.
"Yes, as soon as I put Spidey away somewhere. And I have to show Leiko around. And I want to go to Prism's shop. And then I want to eat something because I'm tired of rations. And..."
"Enough, Emeryl! You need to learn the virtue of patience." The abbot stopped him, "Go to your cell and pray for one hour. And for heaven's sake wash off that girl, she's gray with dirt."
"Uh? Oh, she's not dirty, she's just a drow." Emeryl returned.
"I see..." he observed. As Leiko tugged on some curtains Emeryl called her over.
"Go tell the others I'll meet them later. I have to go pray now. And take a bath." Emeryl restated.
"Ok!" she giggled, trotting away.
"Can't I at least visit the shop with everyone else?" Emeryl pled.
"Two hours." The abbot sanctioned.
"I'm going to have to prepare a ceremony for Alan..." he sputtered.
"Three hours." The abbot answered.
"Ok, I'll shut up now." Emeryl droned. Biting his lip he darted into his room before he earned himself more time. He flew through the hallway and into his small bedroom. His room was one of the fanciest, with a small desk in the corner and a mirror on top of that. As all the other priests did he also had a bed and a chair, plus a small kneeler in the corner.
Sighing, he started for the kneeler when he glanced at the mirror to see himself. On top of his head a large black spider had nested itself. For being gone in the middle of a cave for a few days he was clean; for being a town priest he was dirty. A white shadow in the background caught his attention.
"Augh!" he spun around with staff in hand.
Two bright blue eyes stared back at him with a brilliant smile.
"Maskini!" Emeryl dropped his staff. Little hearts practically danced over his head as he charged and tackled the priest.
