The hum of the engine puttered out as he kicked the stand. Naturally he chained the bike to the rack before leaving his precious vehicle, scooping his lone package out of the basket.
"Hey! You!" He jogged after a young lady in a tomato t-shirt and ripped up jeans.
      Irritably she glanced his direction.
"Where can I find a bard?" He asked politely.
"Try the Musician's Hall, down the street." She pointed. With a thanks he saluted her and jogged down the street. The Musician's Hall was easy enough to spot. Bright neon colors decorated the outside while a blinking sign hung above the double doors. His fingers slid across the gold painted door open.
Inside it bustled with party-goers and music. A violinist with a cloak draped over him played steadily next to a green clad pianist. One of the partiers flipped a coin at them that the violinist promptly snatched before it reached the pianist.
Tugging the rim of his hat Remus strode into the room as faithfully as he would anywhere else. He directed himself to a barcounter where some idle musicians rested.
"Hey." He waved to the female next to him. She glowered at him with dark purple eyes.
"Hey." She answered. Without regard for him she played with an oak bead in her hair. All her plump hair combed over her right shoulder was held by the two large wood beads. Under a mantle that was hooked over her other shoulder and wrapped around her waist he spotted a long box shaped instrument clipped to her back. In her waistband a flute poked out along with a decorative sword.
"What do you play?" Remus asked indifferently.
She glanced at him again, "Flute and koto."
"Really? Can you help me out, I'm looking for Lirit Deraken. Do you know her?" he asked.
"Yeah, I know her. What do you want?" she leaned back.
"An extremely important package is being held for her. Who are you?" he answered.
"Tiri." She ignored him as someone else sat by her, "Hey! Have you heard the latest about the vampire?"
The blond man set down his clarinet, "No, what happened?"
"I heard he killed one of the mayor's bodyguards in Corinth." She whispered urgently.
Butting into the conversation Remus huffed arrogantly, "That guy is way over-rated. He's just a bandit."
"The most dangerous bandit in the world!" Tiri snapped at him. Screams arose from the crowd.
The sound of glass shattering boomed over them. One gunshot rang in their ears as everyone dove for cover. Remus covered his head as he tried to figure out what was happening. Nearby a window a gray figure crunched through the shattered window pieces.
"Everyone! Empty your jewelry, money or whatever the hell you have!" the voice bellowed at them. Remus spotted a shiny black object in the man's hand-a gun. His actual appearance surprised the mailman.
      "That's the vampire?" Remus sneered.
"Shut up and get out your stuff so he doesn't get mad." Tiri hissed, yanking some necklaces out of her pocket. The robber wandered around with a sack gathering large jewels from several people. Remus dug out some money from his pocket as the robber approached him.
A second later the beige satchel was stuffed under his face. Remus spitefully tossed what he had in.
"That's it?" the rough voice sounded skeptical. Glaring up at him hatefully Remus met with his cold green eyes.
"All I have is a package." He knelt in front of the robber with the small box in hand. Even under his red handkerchief hanging loosely around the pale gray face he could still see the two sharp little fangs. His ears peeked out from under his shoulder length black hair, almost twice the size of a normal person's. A sharp pointy nose curved down his face-he looked just like all the articles said. But what surprised him was the professional looking gray suit covering his body, pinned with white chains down the left side and a golden crossed shaped pin with rubies encrusted into it. From what Remus knew, the cross was the symbol of a thief's guild.
"I don't want your damn package." He kicked it out of Remus's hands, moving on to Tiri.
"Hey, only I'm allowed to break my packages!" Remus jumped up. A gun whipped around pressing against his 'Postal' hat.
"I'm in a good mood today. For your best interest you'd better keep it that way..." he warned lowly. Silently Remus dropped back to the ground, retrieving his package.
The bandit continued, taking Tiri's necklaces and jewelry from some others before he bowed courteously and hopped on another window. He left as quickly as he'd come.
"You moron." Tiri snarled at him before she dashed out of a Musician's Hall.
"Tiri sure left in a hurry..." Remus grumbled to the other musician as he hugged his abused package.
"Tiri?" he staggered to his feet. The hall slowly re-awakened, people were wiping glass off the ground and whatever food that was spilled.
"Yeah, that chick." Remus leaned on the stool.
"Oh, her name's Lirit." He corrected Remus.
"Lirit..." he glanced at the address on the lable, "That little..."
He leapt up and dashed outside. Glancing both ways he jumped a man passing by, "Hey! Did you see which way a purple haired bard went, special postal delivery service!"
"Um... I think she headed northwest." He shrugged.
"Northwest... Northwest... That's the, Thessa Forest." Remus dratted, "Can't use a motorcycle in a forest."
"So go to the stables?" The man shrugged, wandering away.
Unzipping his jerkin he slipped the package inside of a large pocket. Quietly he zipped it and darted down the street towards the outskirts of the town. On his way out the key hung around his neck slipped out with a flicker of his hands. The chains fell away from his bike as he veered off.
She couldn't have gotten far on foot and since she was headed for the forest he assumed she'd stay on foot. Jetting across the bumpy plains outside of Doko he searched frantically for her. Amazingly she disappeared without a trace in such little time.
"Stupid..." he grumbled, leaning to the side slightly to head for a stable-house he knew of.
Speeding far past any legal limit he reached the stable-house within ten minutes. From his wallet he slid out an identification badge. The farmer-like worker strayed away from the stables, wiping his brow and holding a pitchfork perpendicular to the ground.
Remus hopped off the back of his bike holding out his badge, "Special Postal Delivery Service! I'm going to require one horse to deliver an important package!" He announced firmly. The farmer winced at his badge as Remus quickly shoved it away.
"I only have two horses left, and one gets spooked easily." The farmer's voice vibrated with confusion.
"Just give me the fastest, he'll be returned." Remus agreed.
"Well, alright." The farmer shrugged. Remus tapped his boot impatiently as the farmer retrieved a chestnut horse with black hooves, mane and tail. It took another five minutes for the farmer to put the bridle and saddle on, testing the bit in its mouth.
"Here you go sonny." The farmer trotted the horse over. Remus shoved one foot into the stirrup, hefting his weight over the horse. A pile of dust flew in the air when he toppled off the other side. Trying again he placed his foot in the stirrup, then carefully lifted his leg over.
"Ok, go horse." Remus ordered it. It ignored him. The farmer shook his head.
"Lean down." The farmer explained. Glancing at the old man irritably, Remus leaned over the saddle. The horse took off unexpectedly, galloping across the rough plains.
