"Alan! You were going to kill me for three copper!" Eric screamed.
"He obviously didn't do it, you're still here moron." Bentora smacked Eric on the back of the head.
"So, what happened?" Prism pressed him to continue.
"Well, when I took him into the forest I tried to set him down, but he wouldn't let go of my shirt. So I sat down with him. We stayed there all night and the next morning I headed off with Eric." Alan explained, "We reached Cervik hungry, and that's where I ran into Mrs. Kasuts."
"Wait, that's my mom!" Prism retorted.
Alan nodded, "I told her Mr. And Mrs. Deraken were killed by robbers and I escaped with my baby brother. I don't know if she believed me or not but she gave me a meal and suggested I work as a stable-boy. From there, we just stayed in Cervik."
"But, why did he want to kill me?" Eric asked.
"I don't think he wanted a second child. We lived on a farm and my dad was the only one who really worked because I was eight and couldn't do that much. He and mom argued about it all the time." Alan shook his head.
"Then I don't want him either." Eric folded his arms stubbornly.
"But mom... she probably thinks we're dead..." Alan replied, "We need to go back, you might never meet her."
"Trust me Eric, go meet your mom while you have the chance." Prism solemnly told him.
Eric lowered his head in thought, "Then I guess... this means good-bye."
