I went to my first Renaissance Faire last Sunday and I have the burn marks to prove it. We were out in the sun all day without sunscreen. Going to school the next day wasn't very fun. The Faire was interesting. I was hoping to find a hat but I couldn't find just the right one. If I'm going to buy something I want to make sure I like it. I saw some blouses I liked at the "Dye Shop", but I couldn't find where to actually buy those particular blouses so I didn't buy one of them either. We watched the joust, which was pretty funny. What's interesting is that without the crowd interaction it would have been horrible.
When we first took our seats (in the section way in the back with the hot blazing sun) we found out our knight was the "Black Knight". As soon as I heard that name I figured we'd either picked the villain or the hero. Either way we had a good one. Our squire had some fun having us yell at the other squires, and basically teasing people all around. The acting for the joust wasn't the best, but I think our knight had the best audience. We cheered and hollered for him and "boo"ed everyone else, even without having to be told because we were having fun. I'm surprised I didn't lose my voice. Some of the staged parts were extremely obvious (like if someone swung a sword and it didn't even look like it hit, but the person is 'supposed' to fall off so he goes and practically jumps off the horse anyway). I want the queen's job. She got carried around in a chair all day under shade. I'd put on a dress and fancy hat for that.
I finally put up all of Loniaer's stuff on Devil's Advocate. And he doesn't even know yet. I haven't seen him online. I wonder if he's shown Anthony any of the stuff we've been doing (Anthony being his husband, of course). It still may be pretty risky, because technically he's only there for amusement purposes, and I'm sure some people might get really offended by him. But I like him, and he helps support me, so I want him to stay.
I've been in a helping mood lately. I don't know why. A lot of new WPRs have popped up though that can use it though, so I'm trying to offer my help in a non-insulting way. Really I'll help pretty much anyone who asks. I put up a Tutoring section at Nakago's Awards that I haven't bothered to update, but I've had some fun with it.
I'm considering making an online resumé. At this point I'm not sure what else to do. I love writing, but I don't want to go through the English classes. I've never been in an English class that has anything to do with the type of writing I like. It gets tiring to read a bunch of stories I find boring, then write a bunch of essays I don't care about. I enjoyed Shakespeare, and possibly enjoyed Chaucer even more, but I didn't like most the others. I couldn't even read past the first few chapters of "Sense and Sensibility", it bored me to death and the only character I remotely liked she kept going out of her way to describe as 'ugly'. The other characters could have all died and I wouldn't have cared.
I like to draw, but I don't think I'm good enough for a career right now. I'm not positive what to do.
